Day 137

Affirmation:

I only make choices that are beneficial to my life and support my well-being.

I only make choices that support my growth into a  more empowered and more authentic, loving human.

It is easy to get into the habit of making choices that do not serve one’s life or self.   That may be the habit of choosing an unhealthy relationship, choosing to be in situations which promote victimhood, or choosing to worry (which offers nothing positive to any experience).   Consciously choosing that which is physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy is always the right choice, for both the self and others.  Choosing to nourish the body with the healthiest possible food is choosing well-being.  Choosing to end or avoid engaging in toxic situations is choosing to support one’s growth.  Choosing to view oneself as worthy and valuable is choosing empowerment.  Choosing to feel compassion, tolerance, understanding and acceptance is choosing authenticity.   Choosing to have a positive attitude and positive thoughts is choosing to be a more positive, loving person.   Being conscious of what one is choosing – and whether or not the consequences of those choices  support well-being – is an important part of living a joyful, healthy, authentic life of love and truth.

Day 89

Affirmation:

I keep my focus in the direction of my desires.

If we desire abundance but keep seeing lack everywhere we look, we need to turn and look in a different direction.  If we desire health but our attention is only on ailing, we must change our point of view.  We cannot experience, achieve, or manifest a desire if we’re looking in the direction of what we do not want.  And since we can only see in the direction we face, we must be facing that which we desire.  If we desire harmony, we must look in the direction of harmony rather than staring at discord.  If we wish to have a life we are grateful for, we must be seeing that which we are grateful for.  If we do not like what we’re seeing, we must change our position.

Day 50

Affirmation:

It is never too late to begin again.

Every moment is an opportunity to start over.

No matter how futile a situation may seem, it is never too late to begin anew.   Just as we like to view each new year as an opportunity to begin again, so too can we view each day – and even each moment – as an opportunity for a fresh start.   Whatever has not been working can be given a second (or third or tenth) chance by choosing a ‘starting over’ attitude.   A discussion turning into an argument can be stopped and started in a new direction.  A relationship that is struggling can be given a chance to begin again.   Age, health, education, time, experience, opportunity, history, re$ources, and location are oft used excuses for not starting something over when fear is usually the real culprit.  Starting something over can be scary, scary enough to make staying the same preferable, however toxic, unhealthy, or growth inhibiting that may be.  Don’t allow fear or excuses to prevent every situation from being the best it can be.  If something is not going the way that we wish it to, or working out as best we think it can, seize the opportunity in every moment to start over.

Day 42

Affirmation:

I am a passionate being.

I allow my passion to ignite life within me.

I find infinite opportunities to experience and express passionately.

Passion is the inner spark of the Divine come ablaze.  Passion is the outward expression of an internal expression of the heart.   Passion inspires and activates potential.  It’s a causation for creation.  It emboldens us to life and living.  Passion creates an opening by which the Divine can manifest in the world, thru the body, mind and heart.  Passion may be an intimate exchange with another but it is ALWAYS an intimate exchange between ourselves and our Source.   I give myself permission to be the passionate being I AM.

Day 23

Affirmation:

Every step I take is part of my sacred journey, without exception.

I honour my living as a sacred excursion.

Whether dancing dutifully with the ordinary or mindfully engaged in the esoteric, every single step that you take is part of your sacred journey.   Our physical lives are the journey of a soul collecting experience and expanding.  They are the journey of the Divine, masquerading in form, in search of Itself.   They are the journey of a body, a heart, and mind, working with the Universe to create a blueprint of creation for the next generation, and the next, and the next.    There is no step, however muddy or mundane, that diminishes the sacrosanctity of the entire journey.   Revere and honour it all-every struggle, every triumph, every divine inspiration, and every swept floor-for these are the life experience souvenirs of your sacred journey.

Day 257

Affirmation:

I acknowledge that I am human

and I  am humbled today by the gift of my humanness.

I easily and readily apologize for my mis-ses.

I accept responsibility without hesitation.

I forgive myself.

I am an example of humility, courage and authenticity.

____________________________

Being human really is a gift but it’s not one that comes easily, especially for those of us struggling to rise above our ego-rooted reactions and live a more heart-centered experience.  Sometimes that humanness just gets the best of us and we react.  We say something we don’t really mean or take frustration out on a person or situation totally unrelated to our inner struggle.  We blow up, we lash out, we hide behind arrogance, we crumble in the certainty that no one understands us (and certainly no one loves us), we feel alone and isolated, we may even engage in a full-blown pity party.  And it’s OK, and it’s normal, and it’s part of the balance we all struggle to find.  It may even be entirely emotionally healthy.  But on the other side of that humanness we need to find humility.

Cultivating the ability to recognize and own our mis-ses – mistakes, misdirection,  misuse of language, misguided attempts, etc. –  make amends for them, and then forgive ourselves for them, takes our humanness to a new level.

The absence of our humanity is not the goal of evolution; it is when our humanity exits in equal partnership with our humility that we are on our way.

A terrific movie that explores what it means to BE HUMAN and evolve

Day 155

Affirmation:

I do not fight and struggle to achieve, I allow Creation to flow into and through me easily

I take  only positive, fulfilling action toward the realization of my dreams and desires.

I surrender my dreams and desires to the Universe.

I trust the Powers of the Universe to guide me.

When I remain an open and allowing vessel, I am able to receive opportunities and experiences that lead to the fulfillment of my dreams and desires.

                                                             ______________________________

I whined, “But I’ve been working so hard at this; it’s been such a struggle, and nothing has worked!”  That last word sounded more like, w-w-w-w-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrked.”   It was one of those days.   And I wasn’t struggling because it wasn’t working; it wasn’t working because I was struggling.   Despite everything we’ve ever been told, it is not the force, the struggle, or the push that gets us to the end of that rainbow.   It’s the surrender.  How many times have you crawled and clawed your way toward something only to get there when you quit fighting for it.   Women who’ve become pregnant after years of infertility know what I mean.    Look back on your life and consider that the best things that ever happened to you- jobs, homes, relationships- came as if on the wind.  That doesn’t mean without any effort, but they probably arrived without having to struggle or suffer for them, as if the Universe had it all planned out ahead of time and was just waiting for the right time, the right opening.   That opening is called surrender.  Surrendering creates a place of receptivity.  It disarms the fighter, struggling to make something happen, and opens the experiencer to allowing the unfolding of it.  Life is not meant to be forced, it is meant to flow.  It is not meant to be resisted, it is meant to be allowed.   There’s an old tune that sings, “They soar through the air with the greatest of ease, those daring young men on the flying trapeze.”   If you’ve ever watched a trapeze artist you know that they do soar with ease, they have to.  They have to move fluidly and flexibly.  If they were to be stiff, rigid, or struggling, they would fall.  They have to surrender to the swing and the momentum, becoming part of the flow.   We are living our own trapeze acts, flying through life and experience, and we too, do best when we soar with the ease that comes from surrendering to the process.

...with the greatest of ease...

Day 121

Affirmation:

I embrace and claim a life of abundance.

I am surrounded by unlimited abundance and connected to it all.

I joyfully recognize the abundant blessings that are mine in this moment.

I give thanks for the abundance in my life and that which is manifesting

                                    ________________________

To live in abundance we must live in abundance.  It sounds like a riddle but it’s no joke.   Spiritual laws and modern physics both teach us that what we put our attention on expands.   If my attention is on shortage and lack, shortage and lack will expand in my life.  If I put my attention on the abundance in my experience, abundance will expand.  Many find it difficult to focus on plenty when they have an area of lack in their lives (lack of love, money or health, for example) but to facilitate the shift from lack to abundance that is exactly what must be done.   Find what is right, what is present, what is good, what is abundant in your world and sing its praises.  Feel wealthy with what you have.  If need be, think about all those who have so much less, and let that by your perspective point.   No matter how bankrupt we feel in some area of our lives, we all have some aspect of that which we desire already in our experience.   Need a thousand but only have twenty?  Feel grateful for that twenty and all it offers.   It is SOMETHING.   Want a lover but only have a friend?  Let your heart swell with the abundance of love that friendship offers.  It is SOMETHING.   When you realize you have something and NOT nothing, that something can expand.  Whatever you have, embrace it, hold it in gratitude and in joy.   Let your attention fall upon how much is good and right and abundant and what is good and right and abundant will increase.

Day 107

Affirmation:

I thank the Universe for giving me a place in the world today.  I accept and look forward to all the miracles that await me.

or

Thank You for another glorious day of life so that I can again work toward the fulfillment of my purpose.

or

I intend to experience a wonderful, expansive, passionate day today.  I will let nothing stop me from having a great day.

                                      _______________________

Imagine heading off on a hike or a sailing journey without setting a course.  It could be a pretty dangerous trek, or at the very least be  filled with aimless wandering.   Starting the day without an intention is much the same.  An intention, clearly stated and affirmed, sets your course for the day.  Sure, you can still go off track, but there’s a better chance of staying on course when it’s begun with some direction.  Ideally, an intention for the day is set before ever getting out of bed, before the sights and sounds of the outer world have a chance to distract the mind.  An intention might sound like this, “Thank you for this day and my place in it.  I intend to have a day filled with gratitude.”   Another wonderful intention is, “With an open heart, I welcome this day and the amazing gifts that await me.”   Not only does an intention set first thing in the morning align you with your goal, but it also aligns you with positive emotional energy, and that’s a great beginning to any day.   If you’re one of those people who lays in bed lamenting that you don’t want to get up,  you’ll find setting an intention particularly useful for shifting your resistant thoughts.   Set the intention that feels right for you, take a deep breath, and then let it unfold, moment by beautiful moment.

Day 44

Affirmation:

I am repairing the holes in my experience, filling them with love.

                              _______________

A life is like a tapestry, woven of many experiences, each creating a part of the whole.  Some are vibrant, some are dull, some are of fine silk, others scratchy wool.   And some create the effect of a hole in our fabric.  From loss, heartache, missed opportunities, accidents or maybe just from neglect, they leave a painful reminder that make the whole feel forever vulnerable and able to unravel with just the wrong tug.  I don’t want holes in my life’s tapestry; I want a well lived but well united weave.  I will find those holes, one at a time and fill them.  I will fill them with love, a love that will replace the anger, pain, sorrow, blame or guilt that have kept them gaping.  Pains are part of the experience of living, they create some of the most beautiful and shocking changes in texture and pattern but when left as unfinished gaps in the whole, they leave part of me unsecure and that does not serve me.  Every experience has had its place, however hard.  Every experience has had its time, however long.  And every experience also has its need to be healed, repaired, filled with love, and made part of the entirety.

Day 32

Affirmation:

I let go of regret.

I make mistakes, learn from them and move on with responsibility and grace.

                                           ____________

I think everyone can look back on a time when they believe they could have made a better choice.    How often  people say, “If I had it to do over again…”  But even if we could go back and have a do-over,  we would always make the same choices (unless we could take our current awareness back with us, and we can’t).  Decisions are based on all that’s available in the moment they’re made: our hopes, our fears, the world and people around us, everything that led up to that moment and everything we think in that moment about our future…. The only way any choice made could ever be made differently is if the circumstances that went into that decision were also different.   We’d have to go back to our very first breath.  So what to do then with all those woulda’, coulda’, shoulda’ thoughts?   The only thing anyone can do is take the past and embrace it as a learning experience.  Be appropriately sorry perhaps, but see it as an experience that is a part of the learning to be and become better than who we were yesterday.  Today I embrace one of my so-called regrets and let it go, knowing things could not, as the universe was set up at that time, have been any different.  I give thanks for the opportunity to learn from hindsight and determine to use my experience to make better choices in the future.   I take responsibility for my past choices but regret only cripples.  Today I let it go.

Day 16

Affirmation:

I allow each moment to bring its own new and unique experience, free from expectation.
                                          _________________________________________________

If I felt a certain high from meditation yesterday, I may want to feel that same high from meditation today. If I felt a very deep connection to my beloved yesterday under certain circumstances, I may expect to feel the same when circumstances are the same.   This can never be.  The precise energies of a moment or an experience can never align in the exact way again. Holding onto a past experience in the hope of repeating it only creates resistance that prevents a new experience from being fully lived.

“You cannot step into the same river twice.”
