Day 64

I listen to the wisdom of my body and respect my body’s need for regular rest.

When I am tired, I stop.

When I am sleepy, I sleep.

Everyone seems to like the idea of finding balance in this manic, fast-paced world but we often forget that part of balance is rest.   Our bodies are the vehicles for our experiences, the bearers of our minds, hearts, and souls.  We can’t experience harmony when we ignore our bodily need for rest.  In a get-it-done-yesterday, more-is-better,  modern world, we like to override the natural need for rest with chemicals or by simply ignoring the message our body is sending.  When the body is tired and we ignore it, we put it into stress, and that can lead to trouble down the road.   We need to listen to the wisdom of the body.  It knows best what it needs to keep going optimally.   Instead of coffee or an energy drink – both meant to keep us going when the body wants otherwise – we’d do better to stop for ten minutes and meditate or take a cat nap.  When it comes to sleep,  the physical body functions best on a regular sleep schedule.  The number of hours needed varies from person to person, but consistency is ideal.  A body listened to and allowed to rest regularly and consistently is a body that will perform optimally.  The body will always tell us what it needs.  And if we learn to listen now, it might not have to scream, “STOP!” in some unpleasant way, later on.

Day 46

I release any judgments that I hold about myself or others.

I avoid labeling, contrasting and comparing.

I accept that all things just ARE.

Labeling and comparing (things to things and people to people) produces judgments and valuations.  When self-judgments are held onto we keep ourselves trapped within the ego space and duality.  When we hold onto judgments about others we keep ourselves trapped within the ego space and duality.  But when we release ourselves from the habits of duality- placing all things into categories of good or bad, less or more, better or worse- we begin to experience unity and Divine grace.  We begin to find ourselves in the heart space.  When we let go the habits of duality we see all things as varying expressions of the One- creating contrast, opportunity, and diversity.   And appreciating all of it.

Day 44

I embrace romance as a magical and loving part of my life.

I choose to engage in romantic moments.

I choose to experience romance in my life for and by myself .

Romance evokes calm, simplicity, ease, imagination, and of course, love, but romance isn’t something that just happens, it’s created by action and perception.  And it needn’t involve two people; it only takes one.  By adding romance to our day, night or world, we add a bit of magic, a touch of whimsy, a hint of fairy tales, a splash of dreaminess, and a dot of innocence.   Romance indulges the senses with soft soothing sounds,  inspiring aromas, flickering flames, sensuous fabrics, and simple calming colors.   Romance is personal, something we can customize to meet our soul’s imagining.   We can engage romance with a partner if there is one, or in blissful solitude if there isn’t.  Whether it’s a candlelit dinner for two or candlelit bath for one, wrapping each other in satin while reading Neruda, or wrap oneself in cotton while reading Elizabeth Gilbert, we can all bring a little romance to our private moments.

Day 42

I am a passionate being.

I allow my passion to ignite life within me.

I find infinite opportunities to experience and express passionately.

Passion is the inner spark of the Divine come ablaze.  Passion is the outward expression of an internal expression of the heart.   Passion inspires and activates potential.  It’s a causation for creation.  It emboldens us to life and living.  Passion creates an opening by which the Divine can manifest in the world, thru the body, mind and heart.  Passion may be an intimate exchange with another but it is ALWAYS an intimate exchange between ourselves and our Source.   I give myself permission to be the passionate being I AM.

Day 235

I am free of inner conflict.

I am at-one with my life.

I am at peace in my mind.

I am at peace in my spirit.

I am at peace in my heart.

I am at peace.

I am peace.

We all need a place we can go to find peace, a place where we can be un-intruded upon, still, and centered.  It’s important that place be easily accessible and available 24/7.   The peaceful place may be indoors, in a bedroom, meditation room, or even in the bathtub or shower.  It may be outside, in a garden, on a porch, or in a spa or pool.  The peaceful space should be made known to others, that they know not to interrupt when we’re there.  Once in our designated refuge, a simple breathing meditation or repeated affirmation, can help still the mind and align us with the peace we desire.   Too often we place other’s needs above our own, but without time and a place to connect to our inner selves, we lose our balance and wind up stressed, reactive or tired.   A few minutes spent in our chosen place each morning and each evening can do wonders for aligning ourselves for both a day out in the world, and a night deep in our subconscious.

Day 157

I value the people in my life and hold them close to my heart.

I will not take anyone’s presence in my life for granted.

Appreciating the people in my life is my responsibility.

Maybe it’s an old friend who’s been with you through thick and thin, or maybe it’s your beloved, your chosen life partner.  Perhaps it’s your child, your sibling, or your parent.  It could even be that ever dependable, always upbeat gal at the market, the one who’s been checking you out for a dozen years.   These incredible people are the diamonds in our lives.  They’re those special and wonderful souls who share a part of the journey with us, who we’ve grown to count on, who enrich our days and our lives.   But diamonds are rare and precious gems that we can forget to value.   Where do you keep the diamonds in your life?  Do you hold them close with appreciation, knowing their worth?  Or do you sometimes forget their measure, carrying them instead in your pocket, where they bounce around with old crumbs and bits of dryer lint?   Carrying diamonds in a pocket is a risky, even reckless, act.  Check yourself.  Have you absentmindedly been keeping diamonds in your pocket?

Day 153

I am not separate from the Divine.

I am infinitely and eternally connected to and a part of *All that IS*.

The force of  *All that IS* runs through the heart and breath, spirit and soul, consciousness and existence, of every living thing, including you.   It is that very force,  that genesis spark, that presence and essence, that has animated you and given you to yourself to experience.  You can not be separate from that which is everywhere, everything, and everyone.    Feeling separate  is an illusion created in the shadows.   But if you turn on your heart and  feel love, there you’ll find *IT*, where *IT* has always been and always will be.

Day 67

Love is not self-centered.

Love is not petty.

Love is not about taking.

Love is not about who is wrong.

Love is not about control.

Love is not about possession.

Love is not about the ego.

Even if love was the glue that created the original bond, fear (and its related emotions) often squeeze love out, allowing the ego to take over the  relationship.   When that happens, control issues, possessiveness, and self-centeredness threaten to dominate the landscape.  Love is not about, “What’s in it for me.”  Love says, “What can I do for you.”  Love is never about taking;  it is about giving (which means receiving too).   Love doesn’t fight for control or power in a relationship; it empowers.  Love isn’t a struggle for rights; it’s the ultimate union (which knows the importance of collective bargaining).  Love is not a cage; it is without boundaries, promoting unlimited growth in its partners.   Love is never about the ego, but always about the heart.

Day 64

I am always connected to my Source.

I keep my heart open so that I can share my spark of the Divine with the world.

My intention for today is to remember that I am not separate from my Source (God/HigherSelf/Love/Light).  I do not have to open myself up in order to “let God in”.  God is ALREADY in. I must open myself up in order to let God OUT.  And when I do, I allow God to love thru my heart all those I meet… Including the one I meet in the mirror.
