Day 28

Affirmation:

Today I will do something completely and utterly pointless… just because.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day have-to’s, need-to’s, and must-do’s.  Using time efficiently, making every moment count, making sure everything has a purpose behind it- these are rationales that create our lives in this modern world.  Being productive and practical has its place, but so does giving ourselves permission to do something that has absolutely no obvious merit.  Admittedly, even the pointless has a point.  It frees us from regimental, well-defined and ultimately limiting thinking.  It creates a space – if only for a few minutes – where we can be spontaneous, curious, adventurous, creative and fully present in the here and now, fully alive and fully experiencing life. And if anyone asks why you did it,  smile and say “Just because.”

Day 19

Affirmation:

I put my attention today on that which is abundant, prosperous and joyous, thereby planting the seeds that tomorrow may bring abundance, prosperity and joy.

Sometimes it’s hard for the mind to step out of what it sees as an inevitable reality (such as a future of doom and gloom) in order to realize that there is no inevitable reality.  Tomorrow only exists in the mind and it is being created by the seeds that our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are planting today.  To stop the process of creating a future we don’t want to experience, we must begin by imagining the future we want today.   We cannot plant turnip seeds if we want daisies to bloom tomorrow.

Day 4

Affirmation:

I am a limitless expression of the Divine.

There are no boundaries around human potential.    It’s as infinite as the imagination.   The walls we bump into aren’t there to tell us we’ve reached our limit; they’re obstacles put in place to test our resolve (“How badly do you want this?”) or lead us toward a better path of fulfillment.

“When asked if she could ride a two-wheeler,  Lily didn’t say she couldn’t because she’d never ridden one – which she hadn’t – no, she just smiled her authentic six-year-old Lily smile and said, “I don’t know, I haven’t tried yet.”

I want to thank everyone who subscribes to this blog for your *amazing* patience and understanding over the past several months, and I’d like to offer an explanation for the infrequency of entries.  When I began this blog on January 1st, 2011, I did so with the intention of writing daily for the entirety of the year, but life offered me an unexpected path last June and all intentions went by the wayside.

After a decade of traversing through life deliberately in solitude, a beautiful man asked if we could travel together.  *Knowing* we belonged together, we combined our households–no easy task, let me tell you–and in the midst of it all, life threw its necessary curve balls just to test our resolve.  At the same time I was asked to take what would be a 3-month caregiving position that required long full-time shifts.   So I chose, again quite deliberately, to make our relationship a priority and suspend writing until life settled in.

Finally, months later, it has.  The work has ended, our life together is mostly humming along, and I am gratefully  intending to again post daily.  To those who expressed concern over my absence, now you know– it’s all been for love!  Thank you everyone for every kind word and all of your positive, supportive thoughts.  I appreciate all of you!   And…

Day 231

Affirmation:

In moments of stillness I become at-one with all Creation.

Today I will practice deliberate stillness of mind and body.

_____________

The infinity of The ALL is found in the pause of no-thing-ness and that pause can be deliberately experienced with a bit conscious intention. Consider making the effort to *STOP* several times throughout the day today to quiet your mind into silence, to relax your body into non-action, and to be fully present in that  moment of Life thru stillness.  Attempt to experience this brief “pause” each time you move from one activity to the next in your daily routine.

Day 230

Affirmation:

I am blessed with abundant love in my life.

I am never alone or without love.

I am loved by forces unseen at all times.

______________

There are times when we all feel alone in the world or without the love and support of one true friend. Perhaps those experiences happen so as to inspire us to look beyond the obvious and visible. Even if stranded on an island in the middle of an infinite sea, one is not alone or without love. Each of us was given, upon our birth, one True Friend on the planet on whom we could always depend. This one person would be with us our entire lives, know everything about us and still love us unconditionally. This one person would stand with us even when we treated them terribly. This one person is our very own self and no person can love us more than we love ourselves.

We are each of us also blessed with love and support beyond this world. The Divine, that unexplainable formless Presence, is an infinite Source of True Love and Friendship. Whether we look within our hearts or to the Heavens, Divine Love is always with us, guiding, nurturing, supporting and loving us unconditionally all the hours of our lives. Be it Divine or Self, love is ours and always with us even when we feel terribly alone.

Day 190

Affirmation:

I refuse to believe that anything is inevitable.

I believe that I am constantly creating my tomorrows today, with my thoughts and actions, therefore I keep my thoughts and actions congruent with the life I want to live, not one I fear might be in store for me.

I believe in the power of my positive thoughts, beliefs and actions, and allow the Universe to deliver me a tomorrow that matches my positive attitude.

                     _____________________

Sometimes it’s hard for the mind to step out of what it sees as an inevitable reality [such as gloom and doom] in order to realize that there is no inevitable reality.   Tomorrow is not created until we put forth the intention for it.  Our thoughts project outward into the creation in order to keep it unfolding.  The thoughts we had in our yesterdays, coupled with our actions, created our today.   The only inevitability is that tomorrow will be.  What it will be is a matter of choice.  That is, choosing thoughts, beliefs and actions that support what you want it to be.  The Universe operates outside of time, so even if something seems logically inevitable, you may well be surprised when things turn out differently!

Day 164

Affirmation:

My actions are in harmony with my intentions and motivations.

I have no hidden agenda; I live with honesty and integrity.

I say what I mean and I mean what I say.

My words and actions are authentic.

                                      ______________________

Living a spiritually attuned life requires authenticity, the sort of authenticity expressed as motivations that are in harmony with actions.  Living authentically means being free of any hidden agendas in interactions with others or the world.   Instead of being nice to the boss in order to get a promotion, the person living authentically is nice to the boss because they are being nice.   Someone living authentically will not have an ulterior motive.  They give for the sake of giving.  They do for the sake of doing.  They ask because they are interested.  They help because they wish to help.  They love for the sake of loving.

Day 160

Affirmation:

I can be proud of myself, all by myself.

I don’t need feedback from others to accompany my good works and successes.

I practice humility.

            _____________________________

There is nothing wrong with sharing the news of an accomplishment, an accolade, or a good deed done.  It feels good to share what makes us proud of ourselves, and doing so can be a great way to set an example for others, but if we’re not careful such sharing can become a habit that does little more than serve an unhealthy ego.   When we *need* others to know we’ve done well, it’s time to rethink the motivation behind the sharing.  Feedback from others can become a crutch for our sense-of-self and worth.  If you want to make sure you’re not serving your ego’s desire for external recognition,  try keeping news of your achievements to yourself for a week or two.   Don’t share news of the surprising compliment, or pat on the back you received.  Don’t tell anyone how you helped someone in need or gave of your time by volunteering.   Keep those feel-good moments to yourself and see how you fare.  Even if you find that your intention to share arises from a  healthy ego, you might be amazed at how good it feels to be radically humble.

Day 158

Affirmation:

I choose to be in relationships that support my evolution into consciousness.

I choose to be in relationships that promote my spiritual integration.

I choose to be in relationships that respect me, my choices, my path and my intention, even if they do not agree with them.

I choose to be in relationships that are authentic, heart-centered, and embody the Divine.

I choose to work toward healing relationships that have lost their way but hold potential.

I choose to leave relationships that deny me my-self, my choice, my path and my intention.

I choose to leave relationships that willfully deny me support, consideration and reciprocation.

I choose to leave relationships that inhibit my expression and growth, or the expression and growth of the other.

I choose to leave relationships in which I am not engaging from, or being engaged from, love.

                                                           ____________________

The more you grow and become the empowered, conscious, integrated and evolving spiritual being you are, the more you will find yourself uncomfortable in relationships with those who are living from a different perspective.  You will begin to feel a need for authentic relationships.  Authentic relationships are those that are evolved beyond the ego, the small self and the small mind. They are created in heart-centered consciousness and embody spiritual evolution and integration of mind, body and spirit. They promote harmony, inter-dependence, unconditional support, and are founded in loving intention.  If there is a goal or reason for authentic relationships it is to support each other’s individual growth and expansion.   Authentic relationships are conscious choices, not obligations.   They are wants, not needs.   Authentic relationships may be short-lived or life-long.  There is a very conscious understanding in authentic relationships that when the relationship no longer serves both parties, it can dissolve naturally, instead of being clung to out of an ego-centered need. That does not mean that authentic relationships do not have conflict, but conflict is understood as a natural part of two wholes expressing individuality.  When conflict does arise, it is resolved mutually and respectfully.  The more authentically you live your life, the more you will desire authentic relationships.  That may mean leaving those which no longer promote expansion, are incongruent with your  path, or find you unable to be supportive of the other.  It may also mean being authentic in your half of a relationship that you wish to maintain, such as with a family member, though they have differing views.  In those situations we learn to be authentic in our own selves while respecting the evolutionary path of others.   Living in harmony does not mean isolation from those who resonate to a different beat, but in our interpersonal relationships it does mean engaging as authentically as possible.

[Note: I wish I could have posted with a picture of people engaged in an authentic relationship but the reality is that authentic relationships do not ‘look’ any different from others. I chose this photo because it makes visible the attributes of an evolved, authentic relationship.]

Day 4

Affirmation:

I live in abundant health and vitality.

I am strong and energetic.

I can see my body, its organs, tissues and cells, bathed in Divine and healing Light at all times.

I feel my body daily rejuvenated.

My body is a vehicle of Divine creation and I treat it with honour and respect.

                             ___________________________________

Whether I am in perfect health at this moment or not makes no difference.  What is important is that my attention be on what I desire, my preferred state.   By continually affirming health, healing, and strength I am channeling the energy of  Divine perfection to every part of my body, via the unlimited power of my own consciousness.    Serving my body well with my actions is also essential.   Intervention and good care are vital and my choices should reflect and promote my preferred state.

When my mind and it’s assertion of health are working in harmony with deliberate action to promote the same, I am creating the ideal circumstances for the attainment of my preferred state.
