Day 125

Affirmation:

I celebrate life.

I celebrate the miracles, joys, successes, bounty, imperfection, health, love, triumph, growth, prosperity, support, opportunities and Presence, in my life.

I celebrate the big reveals in the small details.

I celebrate living.

Life is not always easy but it always holds something to cherish, to honour and to celebrate.  It may be storming but outside birds still sing.   Find a reason to celebrate.  Look around the world and see the goodness, the glory and the greatness!  Look in the mirror and see the smile, the wisdom and the potential!    Rejoice in the monumental small details, the clean water, the gentle hug, the bee that dances from flower to flower.   Celebrate good times, past, present, and future.   Celebrate the Divine and Sacred gift of existence!   Find a reason, any or none at all, but CELEBRATE!

And if my passionate words aren’t enough…. listen and just try not to dance!  Celebrate!

Day 70

Affirmation:

Today I will see God in the details.

If we want to know Divinity, all we have to do is look around.  In every particle of light filtering thru the window we can know the Absolute’s illumination. In every newly revealed green leaf & blossom, we can see the Divine’s celebration of life. In every bird song of joy, every child’s cry of need, and every lover’s sigh of passion, we can hear voice of the Infinite Spirit. In this morning’s hot coffee and tonight’s cool sheets, in a stranger’s smile and an old friend’s embrace, in the rhythm of our breath and the beating of our hearts, in all the little details we can experience the Source of all existence as it appears in ordinary life and experiences.

Day 22

Affirmation:

Today I intend to see the world as a playground where I will let my inner child out to play.

The inner child is often only given his or her due consideration when an issue is being worked through or a trauma is being healed.   Few have escaped childhood without some emotional wound- and while it’s valuable to reclaim and love that inner child into our healing- he or she can offer us something else, something equally valuable.  That little boy or little girl who permanently resides in each of us doesn’t just hold pain, he or she also holds joy, abandon, wonder, and a true sense of play.   Let’s not only hold those inner children as precious victims but also as mighty examples of how to live life fully.  Let’s let our inner little boys and girls go out today and have some fun.  Let them remind us how to laugh at ourselves, how to make messes we can be proud of and how to be generous and forgiving.

Day 18

Affirmation:

Right now, right here, I am strong, determined and unwilling to let fear undermine my author-ity.

I refuse to allow fear to disable my creative potential.

I refuse to let fear dis-able me.

I choose to move beyond fear and into my potential.

Imagine a fear-full person preparing to skydive.  He stands in the doorway of the plane, holding on to whatever will keep him safely in the plane.  He’s rigid, rooted in place, unable to take that step out of the plane.  He is paralyzed by his fear, and in that moment, all potential is disabled.  All forward motion is stopped.  No progress can be made.  His fear has dis-abled him.  In the very same way, fear has the potential to dis-able us in our ordinary, day-to-day lives.  We are the authors, creators and inventors of our lives but when in fear, all potential is frozen.  We can not move forward.  We can not jump into life with enthusiasm.  We can not experience the abundant, joy-full, loving experiences that are waiting for us. But in spite of our fears, we have choices and we can choose to push ourselves beyond our fear and into our potential.

Day 10

Affirmation:

I am Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully alive.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully connected.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully in love.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully healthy.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully wealthy.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully on purpose.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully grateful.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully surrendered.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully MYSELF.

If passion is the divine spark, and bliss the divine breath, joy is the quality that animates them both, turning breath into the wind that feeds the spark into a fire.   Whatever we do today let’s do it with PASSION (divine enthusiasm ) BLISS (divine at-one-ness) and JOY (divine happiness).

Day 238

Affirmation:

I am an optimistic, positive being.

I allow only that which is positive to reside in my world.

I surround myself with positive energy.

I consciously choose and create a positive environment where I live and work.

—————–

While the external world mirrors the internal, it also has the power to influence the inner world.  If the morning is off to a rocky start, threatening to throw you into imbalance with first light, an external environment filled with peaceful, loving energy will support your return to harmony whereas a chaotic, tense environment will only support a further fall from center.  It’s important that we take time periodically to look around our environments and assess the energy that dominates, making changes where necessary and possible.

Some examples of environmental negatives are:

  • dark, brooding, depressing colors
  • artwork that depicts or promotes negative action/emotion
  • music, television and video games that focus on negative situations or excessive drama
  • food that is overly processed, has chemical additives, or promotes lack of health
  • animals and people whose dominant energy is negative
  • items that evoke unpleasant memories
  • clothes that make us feel unattractive
  • clutter, disorder and mess
  • lack of natural light

No environment is always free of negative influences, but those negative influences should never be allowed to dominate.  Imagine you’ve been asked to design a business that creates, promotes and sells only well-being and health. You’ve been told it should be a place where every customer feels uplifted, revitalized, calmed and centered as they enter. Well the business is your world and the #1 customer is you.

Look around your personal spaces– the bedroom, home, car and work area– where you find negativity, consider redecorating for optimism, health and tranquility.  Add lively color, art that promotes the positive attributes you desire, flowers and plants and fresh fruits and vegetables, symbols of freedom and expansion, for example. By doing so you’ll be immersing yourself in a positive, optimistic energy flow that will uplift and support your well-being on a daily basis.

Day 129

Affirmation:

I embrace and accept the light-ness and the dark-ness as essential forces comprising the whole of physical existence.

I live in a harmonious acceptance of duality, learning from it, and growing into unity, through it.

                _____________________________

Physical life is a never-ending interplay of the forces of duality, of light and dark.  How beautiful it would be to dance only in the light, the joy, the goodness and the glory, but in our world of two-ness and opposites, we can not, nor should we, avoid dancing in the dark.   By resisting or denying the experience of pain, suffering, and heartache in the world, we only deepen its hold on us.  We can only truly be free of darkness when we embrace it, when we accept its presence, when from it we achieve the greatness of compassion, charity, and forgiveness.  Accepting the dance of duality opens a space in the heart for unity.   Harmony is not found in only having, only loving, only knowing joy, it is found in appreciating the full spectrum of life, from love to hate, from joy to sorrow, from self-pity to gratitude.  Balance is not found in denial but in acceptance.  See life as this dance, a constant and necessary interplay of polarity and opposing forces, creating and destroying, coming together and tearing apart.  Embrace the whole of experience, the shadows and the source,  and you will begin to possess an equanimity that allows you to dance with the entirety.

Day 128

Affirmation:

I accept that sometimes I must let go in order to grow.

However difficult it can be, I respect loss as a part of expansion.

                      __________________________

Imagine you are driving from Los Angeles to New York.  To prepare for the trip you will probably want to clean out the car.  You’ll make sure the trunk and back seat area have plenty of room for your luggage and anything you might collect along the way.   But what if the car is crammed full of stuff before you ever leave L.A?   You won’t have much room for anything new you might discover on your journey.   Well the journey through life is a lot like that journey across the United States.  You have to know when you’re overloaded with what you don’t need anymore, and let it go, in order to collect new experiences.  I’m talking about things like attachments to the past-old wounds, regrets and blame-and present attachments that are unproductive or unhealthy.  Sometimes a dream needs to die in order to make way for a new one.  Sometimes a hope must be let go of in order to realize something better.  Sometimes a relationship must be left in order to know a healthier or more meaningful experience.  Very often the losses we need to experience in order to know growth are not by our choice, but are thrust upon us.  A loss, however it is disguised, and by whatever means it arrives, is a signal for growth.  It is the removal of something you’ve held on to, in order that you might experience something else.  Letting go and loss are rarely experienced easily, but when resisted, the difficulty is only intensified and prolonged.  Surrender to loss, and let go of what is no longer useful, and you create space in your experience for new, unimagined opportunities for expansion, joy, and well-being.

Day 114

Affirmation:

I keep my thoughts positive and on what is right, working, and abundant in my life.

If  a negative thought enters my mind, I do not give it any merit or attention, I replace it with a positive thought.

I put my mental and emotional attention on the thoughts that promote  joy, happiness, feeling good, peace, harmony, gratitude, well-being, empowerment, and love.

                        _______________________________________

Every time you have a thought you plant a seed in your mind that has the potential to grow and become part of your physical experience.  This is how you create your world, your tomorrows and your next moments, with your thoughts, planting one seed at a time.  The attention we give to those thought-seeds is the fertilizer they need to grow.  If a thought merely passes through one’s consciousness, it is unlikely to ever become a manifested experience.  But if a thought-seed is fed one’s attention, it is being nurtured and it will begin to grow roots.  When the attention we place on our  thought-seed is imbued with emotion, we are feeding it with the most powerful fertilizer and is likely to sprout into physical reality.  If I have a thought such as, “I am without love.”  I have planted a “without love” seed.   If  I give that thought-seed my continued attention and focus, and if I have strong emotions accompanying my attention, that seed will likely become a manifested  experience of being or feeling “without love” in my physical world.   This is why it can be so hard to lift ourselves out of a negative state of mind.  Every negative thought plants a seed that produces more of the same, leaving us spiraling in a difficult direction.   This is also why it is so important to think thoughts of what we want, what we love, what we hope for more of, what we dream of having, and of what is right, functioning, and abundant in our lives.  By planting positive thought-seeds, we are growing more of what we love, want, and are grateful for in our lives and experiences.   No one grows corn by planting onions.

Day 101

Affirmation:

Even if I am sinking in the negativity of a situation, I have the choice to lift myself out of the poison and be purified.

I would not choose to bathe in physical poison and I will not choose to bathe in emotional poison either.

I choose to be purified and made better and stronger by life’s experiences.

                             ____________________________

Every difficult, challenging, and painful experience has the potential to both poison and purify.  When a situation poisons, it promotes negativity and toxic emotions.  It may cause us to become defensive, detached, or walled up.  Those who have been poisoned by their life experiences are often thought of as mean, bitter, resentful, or hurtful people.  Sometimes they are phobic, depressed or suicidal.  They may just be chronically unhappy, worried, or complaining.   When a situation purifies, it fosters positive emotions and well-being.  Someone who has been  purified by an experience is made better, stronger, more determined and more positive for it.   Those who have been purified have usually tasted the poison but have chosen to live without it.   People who have been purified by life are thought of as survivors, role models, and heroes.  They are the people who cause us to say, “I don’t know how he/she does it.   They are the ones who tell others to ‘make lemonade’.  You rarely hear them complain.  They exhibit an optimism and determination that allows them to be and be better for their trials.   So what makes the difference?  Choice.  Every experience that comes our way offers us a chance to become poisoned by negativity, or to be purified by the experience and better for it, but we alone decide which it will be.

Day 12

Affirmation:

I am abundantly blessed.

I see the blessings of life all around me and I am grateful for every one.

Everywhere I look I witness the blessings of my existence.  From waking in the warmth of a bed to stepping first foot on cold flooring …  From crows bellowing and hummingbirds chirping in morse  to tea kettles, timers and doorbells  …  From a newly erupted lawn flower to a barren birch…  From snapshot memories of a child, a soldier, and a family to the heartbeat rhythm of my love…  From  the feet on which I stand to the bike I pedal and the car I drive…  From the fingertips that gently tap out this message to the voice that sings aloud and off-key…  From capitalism and democracy to the dream of social harmony… From miracles, magic and mystery to the mundane they create… From light to shadows and back to light…  From consciousness, questioning and clarity to daydreams and stillness… From rain drops and gum drops to tear drops…  From a single torn page of a coloring book to the entirety of Anna Karenina… From touch, tenderness and connection to solitude and space… From struggle and sorrow to surviving and thriving.  From cell phones to cellular memory… From here to eternity and back again… Everywhere I look I witness the blessings of my existence and I am humbled and I am grateful.
