Day 129

Affirmation:

I am the example I wish to see.

I am an example of my highest values and beliefs.

I am an example of the Divine in the physical world.

I am an example of determination, fortitude and perseverance.

I am an example of grace, tolerance and compassion.

I am an example I can be proud of.

So often we look to others to be role models and examples of spiritual courage, fortitude, devotion, charity or enlightenment, such that we do not recognize our own example.   Remember that step you took away from those who did not support you?  A shining example of courage.  The day you took a deep breath and rose again, when every fiber of your being wanted to quit?  Fortitude  in the flesh.   Those infinite moments when you’ve silently whispered, “thank you” to a Universe of love?  Pure devotion.   Every time you’ve offered a smile, a helping hand, shared a dollar, given of your time to sit with a friend or family member?  Beautiful examples of charity.   And all of those intuitive flashes of pure knowing, awareness, and unity?  Enlightenment.    Just for today, let’s see ourselves as our own heroes and our own role models.  Look in the mirror and see the example we are.

Day 128

Affirmation:

I am grateful for limitless possibilities.

I am grateful for opportunities to have all that is positive in my life.

I am blessed with a beautifully abundant and balanced life.

I have wealth and I am grateful.

I have a fulfilling purpose and I am grateful.

I have inner peace and I am grateful.

I have healthy relationships and I am grateful.

I have a healthy body and I am grateful.

I have a soul satisfying spiritual life and I am grateful.

I enjoy life’s pleasures and I am grateful.

Financial wealth, fulfilling purpose/work, inner peace, healthy relationships, physical health, connection to self and spirit, and time for fun and relaxation… These are seven fundamental components of an abundant and balanced life.   If asked, many people would likely say that at least one of these areas in their lives has been sacrificed for another.  Perhaps work that creates wealth has caused relationships to be shortchanged.  Or maybe a deeply spiritual life has been created at the expense of wealth.

So why do we give up one thing in order to have another?  Why don’t we strive to have it all?  Sadly, many of us – usually unconsciously – do not believe we’re worthy of “having it all” and without the belief in our worthiness we never will.  A good many more do not consciously believe it’s possible.  It’s an all too common misconception that only through sacrifice can we achieve our goals.  Of course if that were true no one would “have it all” and many do.  Remember, if but ONE PERSON can achieve something, then so can anyone, even you and I.  Still others feel selfish or self-centered just thinking about wanting to “have it all.”  Those are limiting beliefs planted in us by others and they need to be uprooted. No one needs to settle for three out of seven when seven of seven is possible,  and everyone has the same potential for that perfect seven.

Day 126

Affirmation:

I cannot save the world.

I cannot save anyone.

I can love.  I can support.  I can empower.  But it is not my responsibility to save.

Caring and compassionate persons are often plagued with feelings of guilt, self-blame and self-loathing because they cannot save others from their pain or their own demise.   We should be offering our love and support, but with the firm awareness that it is not our responsibility to save anyone.   When we make another’s success or thriving our responsibility, we  weaken them.   Taking responsibility for others that is not ours to take, not only disempowers them, but it falsely and egoically, empowers us.   In other words, to do so is unhealthy for everyone.   What our loving, heart-centered selves can do is give others tools, knowledge and wisdom.  We can give them support and consolation.  We can give them love, as much as they will allow us to give.   We must always strive to empower others in their own choices and by affirming their responsibility for themselves.  It is so very hard not to want to save every suffering soul, but we only disempower them when we make it our responsibility to do so.

Day 79

Affirmation:

I accept change as part of my ongoing evolution.

I welcome rebirth in my life without resistance.

I celebrate spring as an opportunity for renewal within myself and my life.

While our seasons of rebirth may not always coincide with the rest of nature we can allow the newly reactivated Life Force energy around us in Spring to facilitate growth in our lives. We can use this season to break forth from any resistance we might feel and allow life to transform us into whatever beautiful, amazing, spectacular creations we are meant to become.  Spring is a chance for each of us to remember that we are also the Life Force animated, that we too have within us all potential, and to ask ourselves some really invaluable questions.

  • Am I resisting a natural renewal and rebirth in any part of my life?
  • Am I struggling against change that I cannot avoid?
  • Am I allowing myself to be a part of the natural cycles of change?
  • What are the opportunities for growth that are disguised as challenges?
  • Are there any ideas I’d like to consider birthing into my life?
  • Would I like to engage in any new activities, hobbies, or courses of study?
  • Are there changes in any areas of my life that I’ve wanted to make and haven’t?

Spring isn’t just for the birds and bees, it’s also for our souls and spirits.  If allowed, it can awaken, resurrect, and remind us that we are intended to live in seasons of change, ever-growing toward our highest and most beautiful potential.

Day 35

Affirmation:

I live my purpose in every moment, in every activity, and in every facet of my life.

Purpose is often defined as a Higher Calling or spiritual reason for existing.  Many go in search of their purpose but it’s not something we can find.  Purpose finds us.  Our task is to recognize its presence.   It appears in the moment we comfort a friend.  It screams, “Here I am!” when we fall in love, adopt a pet, or plant a garden.   If each person has but one true purpose it would be to appreciate what they are doing every moment they are doing it.  Living in adoration of life and whatever it has us engaged in, that is the Highest Calling.

Day 33

Affirmation:

I am uplifted in my own life by helping others.

I have no troubles when I am extending my heart to others.

I am grateful for opportunities to help and support those in need.

The greatest and quickest way to rise above our own troubles is to put our attention on helping others in need.  Personal problems often shrink in comparison to the troubles of others.   Helping others also promotes a sense of purpose and appreciation, both of which support one’s own shift from a negative state of mind to a positive one. When helping others, our focus is on more positive concepts such as improvement, recovery, and healing.  In short time those positive intentions and hopes will begin spilling over into our lives.  In short, by helping others, we help ourselves.

Day 26

Affirmation:

Each morning I begin again, alive with hope, determination, and courage.

I awaken to each day as if awakening to another incarnation.

Every new day delivers the promise of full potential.  Each morning is the start of a new, 24-hour lifetime.  No matter what setbacks or disappointments yesterday brought, a new day promises new opportunities and every chance to start again- in love, hope, courage, faith, determination, and empowerment.

Day 20

Affirmation:

I am grateful for every blessing in my life, big or small.

I am grateful for every blessing disguised as a challenge.

I express my gratitude often, both silently and aloud.

I make feeling grateful a habit.

Running water and a running car, friends and family, clothes and comfort; a desk, a computer, a light to see by and fingers to type with; the re$ources needed to enjoy life, be safe, eat well and sleep in peace; time, space, soul and heart; love and longing, naysayers and roadblocks, clouds and sun and soil and rain; seed to feed to birds, ears to hear their songs, and a mouth to smile at the loveliness of it all…..

Day 16

Affirmation:

I see miracles everywhere.

I see all miracles as created equal.

I am humbled and awed by the miracles of life and existence that are all around me.

I welcome all miracles into my experience.

I am grateful for the miracles in my life.

There are no small miracles.  There are no big miracles.  To the universal font of creation a life-saving healing is no bigger or greater an occurrence than a fortuitous encounter on the street.   Creation does not know the limits of more and less because creation It-self is limitless.  All creation is equally meaningful to its Creator.  Humans assign degrees of importance, worth, and value to acts of creation because we think in terms of judgment, limitation and duality.  The Universe does not.  From a non-physical perspective, every encounter, every birth, every happenstance, every synchronicity, every bit of support made manifest is just as grand and meaningful as every other.

We don’t have to limit ourselves and our thinking either. We can learn to think like the Universe.  The job, the relationship, the healing, the purpose, the resources, the human being, the ant, the quiet moment, the parking space up front, the coupon for free gas, the feather, and the cloud can all be embraced equally without measuring one against the other.  When we view our experiences and the world as independent of  all else – without comparing or thinking of bigger or smaller, lesser or greater- we see each as meaningful and miraculous- period.

Day 10

Affirmation:

I am Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully alive.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully connected.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully in love.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully healthy.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully wealthy.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully on purpose.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully grateful.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully surrendered.

I am  Passionately, Bliss-fully, and Joy-fully MYSELF.

If passion is the divine spark, and bliss the divine breath, joy is the quality that animates them both, turning breath into the wind that feeds the spark into a fire.   Whatever we do today let’s do it with PASSION (divine enthusiasm ) BLISS (divine at-one-ness) and JOY (divine happiness).

Day 204

Affirmation:

I refuse to be an armchair sage, filled with knowledge unused and unapplied.

I walk my talk, and practice what I preach.

I live outwardly as a reflection of my inner knowledge.

                               __________________

The journey toward inner peace and inner unity usually involves acquiring knowledge.  This may be knowledge of the self, knowledge of reality, or knowledge of purpose.  While knowledge is immeasurably valuable, it is the wisdom that is gained from the application of that knowledge that promotes the most growth.   To truly make progress along the path toward the Self, one must take what has been learned and apply it in the tangible reality.  Knowing how to be tie one’s shoes is not enough; the shoes must one day be tied.  Knowing how to live without fear is not enough; one must begin living without fear.  Knowing what it means to love  is not enough; one must  actually experience love.

Day 89

Affirmation:

I have an amazing gift to give the world!

I resolve to share my unique gift as part of my life’s purpose!

I will let nothing and no one deter me from sharing my unique gift!

                                       ______________________

Everyone has at least one gift that makes them unique.  Ask yourself, “What is there about me that makes me unique? What special skill, ability, talent, gift, or experience makes me different from everyone else?  What makes me stand out in a crowd?”  The answer to those questions is the gift you possess.  Once you reveal to yourself what your gift is, think of ways to share it.   The most authentic and happiest people are those who have revealed to themselves what their special gift to the world is, and have made a habit, career, hobby, or life purpose of sharing it.   Can’t figure out what your gift is?  Ask your friends, family and others who love you.   Write down their answers.  You might be very surprised to hear them all say the same thing or different things that have one common thread.    Let nothing deter you.  It doesn’t matter how much time or money you have, how many contacts or connections you know, or how old, young, or experienced you are,  there is never a good reason not to begin sharing your unique and individual gift with the world!   I begin now.

Day 74

Affirmation:

I do not seek validation of my worth from others.  I know I am worthy.

I do not seek confirmation of my purpose from others.  I have my own sense of purpose.

I do not seek affirmation of my presence in the world from others. I am aware of my own presence.

I do not seek acceptance of my authentic nature from others.  I know I AM.

                 ____________

Too often we look to the outside world to provide what we can only truly receive from within.  When we rely on the external to give us what we should cultivate from within, we become dependent upon that external source.  If that source is then removed, so too is some aspect of our sense of self.  For example, if I receive validation of my worth from the outer world, all is fine until that outer source of validation is gone.  Once gone, I will find myself lacking in worthiness.    What we base our sense of self on must originate internally and then be supported by the external, not the other way around.

Day 42

Affirmation:

My life’s work and efforts are meaningful because I give them meaning

I do not look to others or the world to validate my purpose.

                                       ________________________

I have often said I want to do something meaningful with my life…to make a difference,  to change the world in some small or big way.   And when choosing a path of effort, I often ask myself, “Is this meaningful?  Will it make a difference?”   The reality is that I may never know if what I do makes a difference but if it’s meaningful to me then it is meaningful.  Too often we look for the applause or payback from the world to determine our effort’s meaning and worth.   How many (now famous) persons went to their graves without feeling that they did something truly meaningful only because  while they were alive the world didn’t validate them or their work.  They relied and waited on the external to define what was meaningful about their lives.    The only person who can decide if what I do is meaningful is me.  Only I can validate myself.
